Delhi Manipuri Society (DeMaS) has taken up the task of distributing dry ration to help students and families from Manipur, stuck in the lockdown in the National Capital Territory of Delhi.
DeMaS is a non-governmental organization based in New Delhi with Manipuris who are mostly professionals working in various fields as its members.
The areas covered in distribution are Kishangarh, Vasant Kunj, Chirag Delhi, Nirankari Colony, Malviya Nagar, Maidan Garhi, Gautam Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and some sectors in Dwarka, to mention a few.
The campaign was led on the ground by Sapam Bishwajit, president, DeMaS and co-ordinated by Ningombam Shyamkishwor, secretary of the organization. More than 100 packets of a dry ration containing rice, pulses, cooking oil, onion and potato, among others, were distributed.
The materials were procured from the monetary donations made by the members of the organization, some donated in kind too.
The Society is also tying up with Manipur Bhawan, Delhi to make further distributions. 80 packets of dry ration have been contributed by Delhi Manipuri Society to Manipur Bhawan, Delhi earlier, as a part of latter’s distribution campaign that has been going on in various parts of Delhi in a bigger manner, since the lockdown got extended.
