Ministers donate

IMPHAL, Apr 20: Ministers of the incumbent Government led by Chief Minister N Biren have donated 30 per cent of their salaries for one month towards combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to media persons at the SSA conference, Babupara this evening, Government spokesman Dr Th Radheshyam said that a Cabinet meeting held today with the Chief Minister N Biren in the chair agreed to donate 30 per cent of the annual salaries of all Ministers towards combating COVID-19.
The State Cabinet has already authorised all MLAs to utilise Rs 25 lakh out of the MLA Local Area Development Fund in COVID-19 related relief measures.
For this, the State Cabinet gave its consent to amend the MLA LADF Guidelines 2016 as a one time relaxation, Radheshyam said.
As Andro A/C is currently vacant, the DC concerned would acquire necessary items from the Relief and Disaster Management Department for distribution to public, said the Government spokesman.
The State Cabinet also agreed to give incentives of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 respectively to truck drivers and helpers for every trip engaged in transporting essential commodities from outside the State, he conveyed.
He further informed that the State Cabinet agreed to prorogue the 10th session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly and give promotion to Class XI students.
Establishment of ad-hoc academic council, ad-hoc syndicate and ad-hoc senate for DM University and appointment of 154 teaching staff and 39 non-teaching staff was another decision adopted at the meeting.
Out of the 154 teachers to be appointed, 88 are Assistant Professors, Dr Radheshyam added.
