Strong wind hits part of Manipur, damages properties at Bishnupur

BISHNUPUR, Apr 16: Following the strong wind that swept through the State on April 15 and damaging properties in some districts, another high wind accompanied by thunder and rain hit parts of Manipur, damaging properties at Bishnupur district, this morning.
The wind blew off the tin roof of the auditorium, girl hostel and library of Sericulture Training Institute, Kwakta apart from causing damage to properties of the institute.
Speaking to media person, Farm Officer of the institute, Md Abdul Salam stated that the institute has fall victim to nature again as the damages caused in last year have not been repaired yet.
It would be difficult to continue the activities of the institute with the prevailing situation, he said and appealed to the State Government to repair the damaged infrastructures at the earliest. The wind also blew off at least 19 houses at Thamnapokpi, Kwakta and Moirang.
