e-platform for text books launched

IMPHAL, Apr 16: In an effort to fill the gaps in Education sector and mitigate the adverse impacts of school closure due to COVID-19 pandemic, Education Minister Th Radheshyam has launched an electronic platform for textbooks of Class I to X today. The e-textbooks are available on the website bosembook.in. They can also be accessed through mobile application "Bosem eBook" which can be downloaded from Google Playstore.
The Minister launched the e-books at his office chamber at New Secretariat, Babupara in the presence of Education  Commissioner T Ranjit Singh, Education  Director Th Kirankumar, BOSEM Secretary Dr Chithung Mary Thomas among others.
Briefing media persons, Radheshyam said that the introduction of e-books in the State is an initiative taken up by BOSEM and Education Department in consultation with a wide range of experts and educationists besides seeking suggestions from parents and media personnel in the State.
With all educational institutes shut, COVID-19 is having adverse impact on education sector threatening to compromise the career of the students who are human resources that will shape the future of the society. The initiative taken up is to fill the gap that is  there due to coronavirus outbreak, he said.
Books for Class VIII, IX and X are already available on the platform. The remaining books of all Classes will be uploaded soon, he said adding it would take around two weeks to upload all.
The webpage - bosemebook.in will also have other features like 'year-wise instruction to examiners, blue print, teachers guide book and scanned copies of answer scripts of toppers and subject toppers' in the days to come, said Radheshyam.
The web page and mobile application are exclusively designed and developed by X-tremeWave.
Meanwhile, steps are also being taken to provide study materials to college students, said an office memorandum of Higher and Technical Education Commissioner M Harekrishna. Study materials will be uploaded on the websites concerned of the colleges and also shared to students through e-mail and WhatsApp. Teachers are encouraged to conduct classes by video conferencing, share educational youtube contents, said the office memorandum.
