Two test negative

IMPHAL, Apr 11: Two individuals who were tested for COVID-19 at VRDL JNIMS today were found to be negative while 19 more samples are under process for testing at VRDL RIMS, the results of which are likely to be available early tomorrow, informed a press release issued by Additional Director and spokesperson of the Health Department.
Two new COVID-19 testing machines namely one fully automated nucleic acid extraction system (QIAcube) and a real time PCR (Rotor Gene Q 5 Plex HRM) have also been installed at VRDL, JNIMS, it said.
While there were also some reports of shortage of hydroxychloroquine for patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and other conditions, the Medical Directorate reviewed the situation and 15000 tablets have reached Manipur through a private transporter. The same will be issued by identified retailers on prescription by registered medical practitioners.
Medical Directorate is also regularly monitoring availability of essential medicines, it added.
