IMPHAL, Mar 6 : Army officer Colonel N Romeo Singh, a resident of Thongju Part 2, Imphal East, has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier. The Selection Board has announced the promotion of N Romeo.
He is the fifth Army officer from Manipur to rise to the rank of Brigadier in the Indian Army.
The eldest son of late Nameirakpam Chaoba and late Nameirakpam (O) Tampha, Colonel N Romeo Singh attended various schools in Imphal, Chandigarh and Shillong before completing his 12th standard from The Air Force School, Delhi and finally graduating from Hansraj College, DU.
An alumni of the prestigious Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Colonel Romeo has had several challenging tenures in J&K and NE States.
A distinguished and decorated officer, he was commissioned into the Rajput Regiment and he has held many prestigious appointments.
During his distinguished career, he has been honoured with Sena Medal, COAS Commendation Crad twice and Army Commander's Commendation Card twice.
Other Army officers from Manipur to have risen to the post of Brigadier and beyond are Lt General Konsam Himalay, LI Singh, LN Singh to name three such officers.
