Associations allege
IMPHAL, Mar 23: Considering the ever increasing certainty that titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba will become a Rajya Sabha MP, AMUCO, IPSA, UPF, HERICOUN, CCSK and LIPUL, have lamented that all their attempts to meet and discuss the issue with members of Manipur Royal Council and Uttra Shanglen, will now be rendered completely useless.
A joint statement issued by the six associations alleged that the top officials/members of the Royal Council and Uttra Shanglen seem to have completely disregarded the sentiments of the public and they are of the same mindset as Leishemba Sanajaoba in this matter.
Stating that the members of Royal Council and Uttra Shanglen are not fools, the associations alleged that they are still pushing ahead with the idea of the king contesting and becoming a Rajya Sabha MP considering the benefits and profits which will come in the future.
History will remember that members of Royal Council and Uttra Shanglen had a part to play in the dark chapters of Manipur which resulted from the drastic decision taken by Leishemba Sanajaoba, it stated.
The associations then conveyed that if the members have any aspiration left for the welfare and development of the people of Manipur, there is still time to step back on their decision.
The members can announce that the king's decision to become an MP has no relation whatsoever with the Sana Konung. However, as they are not even interested in doing this bit, it can be regarded that they are no true members of the Royal Council and Uttra Shanglen, the associations pointed out, adding that the only option left for ensuring peace and tranquillity now is for the members to acknowledge the sentiments and desire of the people and act on it.
