Training programme starts

BISHNUPUR, Mar 18: A three-day skill development training programme under the theme "Use of microbial inoculant in vegetable crops" began today at the training hall of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bishnupur at Utlou.
The programme organised by ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Micro-Organisms, Mau UP in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bishnupur under Tribal Sub-Plan, which will 5 technical sessions aimed at promoting organic farming in the State.
The inaugural function was attended by Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, MOMA Project Director, K Debadutta Sharma as chief guest; ex-Union Minister cum Chairman Krishi Vigyan Kendra Bishnupur, Th Chaoba Singh as functional president and Principal Scientist Head KVK Bishnupur, Dr RK Imotomba Singh and KVK Thoubal, Head-in-charge, senior scientist, Dr W Thoithoi Singh as guests of honour.
Altogether 300 tribal trainees are taking part in the training programme. Knapsack sprayer, tarpaulin, vermicompost, biofertilizer, vermi bins, vegetable seeds etc were also distributed to the participating trainees on the opening day.
In the technical session, KVK Thoubal, SMS (PP), Dr W Thoithoi Singh and Dr RK Imotomba Singh enlightened the trainees on 'use of bio-pesticides in plant disease management' and 'role of microorganisms in organic crop production' as resource persons respectively.
