Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh inaugurated an Innovation hub and toy train at Manipur Science Centre in Takyelpat today.
The Innovation hub, which aims to engage youth in creative hobbies and activities in science and technology and also to promote their critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills, has been constructed under the funding of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), NE Zone, Kolkata, Ministry of Culture.
It consists of Biology, Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics Labs, Resource Centre, Design Studio and a Hall of Fame.
The toy train which consists of three bogies with a capacity of 30 seats have been provided by the Ministry of Railways at free of cost.
Speaking to media persons, Deputy Chief Minister said that the hub will benefit the people, especially the students in conducting scientific experiments wherein innovative ideas and scientific temperaments can be translated into action.
Director, Science & Technology E Ibocha said seeing the importance of innovations, National Council of Science Museums is developing a chain of Idea Labs where young innovators get the platform and resources to pursue their passion to create through science and technology, which led to the installation of Innovation Hubs in several States of the country.
Commissioner (S&T) Bobby Waikhom, Director NE Zone, NSCM, Kolkata Subhashis Das and Rajesh Awasthi, Chief Workshop Manager, NE Railways, Izatnagar, UP Scientists, Innovators and students participated among others in the inaugural ceremony.
