IMPHAL, Dec 30: Even as Manipur and Nagaland Government officials met on border dispute issues today, the State Government has stationed a company of IRB at Tungjoy.
The officials of the two States met at the disputed site between Tungjoy and Khezakheno. Additional DGP L Kailun, IGP (Intelligence) K Radheshyam, DIG (Range IV) Kamei Angam Romanus and Senapati district Deputy Commissioner Th Kirankumar represented Manipur side in the talks. The Nagaland Phek Additional SP RT Chang and other Government officials represented Nagaland.
During the meeting, Manipur officials urged Nagaland to reconstruct the unmetalled section of the road from Tungjoy to Khezakheno and remove structures built on the disputed portion. The officials also informed that Manipur is stationing security forces at Tungjoy.
The officials also proposed arrangements for improving relations and building trust between the locals of the border villages of Tungjoy and Kheza-kheno, Nagaland.
Possibilities of getting the Survey of India to conduct a survey to demarcate the border between the two States clearly were also discussed.
On the other hand, Tungjoy villagers said that Nagaland has dug up a section of the Tungjoy to Khezakheno road for the second time. After the section of the road was first dug up and broken by Nagaland, the villagers of Tungjoy had last month reconstructed the road, they said.
The villagers said that Nagaland has installed a police camp, temporary security posts inside the disputed border area. Sources in Government said that the State may send in additional forces at Tungjoy.
