Police fine SOP violators

IMPHAL, Dec 29
The Police Department continued the crackdown on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with Covid-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus in the State. During today's drive, 254 persons were detained and released later after warning and a total fine of Rs 30,750/- was also collected as per law.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other applicable laws.
The Police Department has been giving awareness and also imposing fines on those who violates SOPs as mandated by the Government to combat COVID-19.
