IMPHAL, Dec 28: Different women bodies have urged the State Government to move a higher Court within 10 days to reinvestigate the drug haul case of 2018.
The women bodies-Nupi Samaj, All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Lup, AMKIL, Apunba Nupi Lup Bishnupur, EECHAL, IKAL, NIMPAL, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation and WASDEV have also warned a strong agitation if their demand is unheeded.
Briefing journalists at Manipur Press Club today, vice president of AMKIL, Lourembam Nganbi stated that the Government should approach a higher Court within the stipulated deadline to show its commitment towards its campaign against drugs.
The people of Manipur are also eager to know if the investigation of the case was scrappy, she added.
The Government should not let this case pass easily as the drugs were 'seized' from the quarter of a distinguished person at Lamphelpat and as former Additional SP NAB, Th Brinda Devi had returned her Gallantry award, Nganbi added.
President of Nupi Samaj Thokchom Ramani also urged the Government to make its War on Drugs campaign purposeful to save the people from drug lords operating here.
