IMPHAL, Dec 23 : The Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has warned the State Government of series of agitation if the proposed recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers is not initiated at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at the office of KIMACS at Palace Compound, spokesperson of the society Thangjam Suraj said that KIMACS has been demanding recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers in schools and  colleges in line with the opening of the indigenous sports as a subject.
KIMACS had also launched agitations earlier in this regard and even its functionaries were detained for the agitations, he said.
Following the agitation, the State Government called on KIMACS to discuss the issue and the agitation was withdrawn subsequent to Government’s assurance to consider their demand, he said.
A committee to frame rules and regulation for recruitment was also instituted post the talk in 2018 but no further development has been seen till date, he continued.
The State Government should take a Cabinet decision on the recruitment of Thang-Ta teachers at the earliest and initiate the recruitment process on or before January 15 next year, he said while asserting that KIMACS is set to launch a series of agitation if their demands are not addressed.
