DESAM condoles

IMPHAL, Oct 8 : The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has condoled the untimely demise of its former member Phairenbam ongbi Elangbam Panthoi on October 6 following a child delivery.
The members of the student body observed two minutes' silence today as a mark of respect to Panthoi, who was once a member of DESAM and had led the body forward with her role in Education and Academic Affair, said a statement of DESAM. DESAM also shared the grief of the bereaved family, it said. The student body also condemned the alleged carelessness on the part of the doctor L Surkumar and demanded authorities concerned to take appropriate action against him and other negligent doctors so that such fateful incidents could be averted in the future.
