AZO makes stand clear
IMPHAL, Oct 25 : The All Zeliangrong Organisation, Manipur Valley has asserted that the proposed tribal museum dedicated to freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu should be set up either at Noney or Tamenglong district and no other place.
President of All Zeliangrong Organisation (AZO), Meibon Phaomei while speaking to media persons at his residence in Imphal, said that the State Government and the Central Government have been apprised about their demand to set up the museum dedicated to Rani Gaidinliu at either of the said districts.
The State Government, however, has not made a formal decision till date, he said while adding if the State Government fails to state their stand within this month (October), AZO Manipur Valley and other like minded CSOs will be launching a series of agitations.
Contrary to their aspiration, the former Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister had planned to set up the museum in Senapati district, Meibon said.
The move was misleading and only aimed at distorting history as the Central Government has informed all concerned to build the museum in the name of the brave freedom fighter in her home district, he said.
A new Tribal Affairs and Hills Minister has taken charge and thus the State Government should announce the site for the construction of the proposed museum in Tamenglong district to uphold the true history of the State.
If the State Government fails to pay heed, or there is an attempt to distort history, AZO will not remain a silent spectator, he continued.
