Senapati, Oct 21: The Naga People's Front (NPF) observed its 58th foundation day today at its head office at Senapati, today.
Organised by the NPF, Senapati Division, the programme was attended by different executives of the State, districts, constituencies and district council constituencies, ADC members, intending ADC candidates from the party and supporters of the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Thisho Kriina, ADC member, 6-Pudunamei DCC, stated that NPF came to Manipur in 2011.
After launching the party, 4 candidates from NPF were elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2012 and in 2015, the NPF led Govt was formed in the ADC, Senapati, he added
Saying that many intending candidates are seeking NPF ticket for the upcoming ADC election, he urged the gathering to support the party.
Soni Matthew, president, NPF, Senapati Division stated that during the 1951 plebiscite, 99.9% of Nagas preferred to be Naga and opted not to join the Indian Union when Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of the Country.
Naga People's Front was introduced in Manipur in May 2011 and out of 11 party tickets issued in the State Assembly election in 2012, 4 were elected from the party, he said.
He also stated that 4 NPF MLAs resigned from their membership in the State Legislative Assembly in the past over 3 Bills of CAB row.
Elected NPF MLAs of Nagaland have been taking an active role through their recently formed Political Affairs Mission in Nagaland to bring an honourable and acceptable solution to the long Indo-Naga political problem, Soni continued.
The NPF has 2 Ministers in the State Govt at present, mentioned the Divisional president and wished the very best to all the intending candidates of the coming ADC election.
Sony Matthew also sought the cooperation of all to vote for the party.
