AMMIK mourns
IMPHAL, Oct 20 : Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) has condoled the sudden demise of renowned singer and law practitioner Laishram Sando.
L Sando, son of the renowned artiste and lifetime president of AMMIK, Laishram Birendrakumar, was a pioneer of Western Music and had presented numerous songs relevant to the State, said AMMIK in a statement.
The demise of such a noted artiste has deeply saddened AMMIK, it said.
AMMIK also highlighted the relief and other activities taken up by the body to help COVID-19 lockdown affected and COVID positive artistes and personalities in the music fraternity.
A low key observation programme of 'Matam Ishei Numit' was also organised by the body on September 30 at MAMI TV Studio, it said.
Patriotic songs by artistes of different communities, songs based on conservation of environment and integrity were also released showing togetherness among artistes and harmonious coexistence, it said.
Even as COVID-19 outbreak has sent most of the people out of work, AMMIK has been camping and working relentlessly to produce patriotic songs, songs based on nature, folk fusion, integrity songs etc at studios, it said.
"Ango Chingsang Napomda", a song dedicated to Hijam Irabot was also presented recently and due work is on to release an audio visual music album titled 'Koubru Mashaikol' at an earlier date, it said while adding that AMMIK has also been a part of many campaign including save river campaign.
AMMIK is expecting to release a song on the theme "Save Rivers, Save Our Soul" by first week of November to support the save river cause, it said while urging all to support AMMIK and its artistes.
