Thoubal, Oct 20: The Democratic Youth Front (DYF) Heirok Kendra has strongly condemned dismantling some old blocks of Heirok Higher Secondary School by individuals and allegedly sharing the valuables there among themselves.
Speaking to media persons while inspecting the site, joint secretary of DYF, Laishram Kishan said that dismantling the old blocks before inaugurating the new building of the school is rather unfortunate.
As the school is public property, such deconstruction work should be carried out following an instruction from the Government only and the assets there should be auctioned or utilised for public welfare, he added.
According to the Principal of the Heirok Higher Secondary School, no such instruction came from the Government, Kishan maintained adding that similar incidents have occurred in the past too.
Asking if this is the changes in the education sector that the Education Minister is promising about, he appealed to the State Government and concerned department to look into the matter at the earliest.
The inspection visit was also participated by several volunteers of DYF and locals of Heirok Kendra.
