IMPHAL, October 12 : The people of Seijang village in Imphal East district have drawn the attention of the Government to facilitate expeditious solution to the land dispute the village has with Silent village.
Seijang Chaokhat Khongthang Nupi Marup, Seijang Progressive Youth Club and Seijang Development Committee today convened a meeting to discuss the issue with the villagers today.
On the sideline of the meeting, secretary of Seijang Development Committee, L Sobhashing stated that the disputed portion of the land belongs to Seijang village since Manipur was a princely State.
Sadly, a dispute emerged when people of Silent village started to occupy the land by building houses over the years and eventually a big clash between the villagers erupted in 2013, he said.
Following the clash, the State issued an order prohibiting both the parties from entering the disputed land portion, he said
However, the sight of re-entry and settlement of Silent villagers defying the order, has disturbed the Seijang people and is likely to renew the tension, he continued while drawing attention of the Government to do the needful and settle the issue at once to avert any unwanted situation between the two villages.
