A passenger bus of the Manipur State Transport (MST) on Saturday began its maiden journey to the village of Sinzawl, the last village bordering Mizoram, taking the number of State transport's destination in Churachandpur to two.
The bus will ply between Lamka town and Sinzawl village via sub-divisional HQs of Singngat, Suangdoh and Mualnuam.
Meanwhile, chiefs of Guite-Kual have lauded the Chief Minister for introducing the bus service to improve connectivity.
It may be noted that the chiefs had met and petitioned Chief Minister N Biren Singh on August 30 last year to open up a new route through Guite Road (NH-102B). With their appeal heard and acted on by the Government, the chiefs of these far-flung areas have expressed their confidence that the new service will go a long way in bridging the gap between the hills and the valley.
Moreover, Liansuanthang Guite, chief of Sinzawl village has expressed his willingness to assist the MST staff in arranging fooding and lodging facilities during their night halt at his village.
