Devotees offer prayers at Nongpok Ningthou sacred site

Jiribam, Jan 12: Devotees from different walk of life thronged Nongpok Ningthou Erat Thouni, a sacred site which is located in the middle of Jiri River at Leingangpokpi, Jiribam and offered their prayers, today.
The ritual was jointly organised by Nongpok Ningthou Erat Thouni Lup of Leingangpokpi and Samupunbi Gularthol, Jiribam.
Speaking to media person at the holy site, G Sarat Sharma, Chairman of Nongpok Ningthou Erat Thouni Lup said that villagers and people of different localities of Jiribam offered their prayers at the holy site on every second Sunday of January.
As the site is located in the middle of Jiri River and is prone to floods, villagers had to renovate the place every year to conduct rituals, he said appealing the State Government to do the needful to protect the holy site at the earliest.
