Bail petition dismissed
IMPHAL, Sep 4 : The Special Judge of NIA Manipur dismissed the bail application filed by Thokchom James @ Tanao in connection with the arms missing case from 2nd Manipur Rifle Arms Kote.
The court order was announced today after it was kept reserved on August 31.
During the hearing defense counsel of Thokchom James @ Tanao of Kwakeithel Mayai Koibi Mamang Leikai submitted before the Court that his client was arrested on April 27 last year pertaining to missing of fifty six 9 mm pistols and 58 magazines from the DGP Pool Kote located at 2nd Manipur Rifles premises.
NIA alleged that the accused gace 2 pistols to co accused Anil Kumar, for further disposal to an armed organization and then sold another pistol to another co accused Paonam Shanti Kumar of KCP (MC) and another pistol to John @ Johnson, who sold the same to an unknown underground outfit.
The defense counsel further submitted that charges levelled against the accused are false and baseless.
On the other hand Special PP NIA submitted that the accused had voluntarily disclosed the fact in his statement recorded under 164 CrPC and also argued that the case is at the stage of charge hearing and prayed that the bail application be dismissed
After hearing both parties the Court dismissed the bail application.
