IMPHAL, Sep 19
Federation of Government College Teachers' Associations Manipur (FEGOCTA) has warned that the teachers of Government colleges are set to launch mass casual leaves on September 24 and 25, sit in protests on September 26, 27 and 28 if the State Government fails to give a response by September 23 regarding the implementation of 7th UGC Pay.
It further warned that if the State Government still fails to act then the cease work strike will be launched again from October 3 onwards. FEGOCTA, in a request letter sent on September 11, urged Prime Minister and Union Minister of Human Resource Development to direct the State Government to implement the 7th UGC Pay and Regulations 2018.
A press release issued by general secretary, FEGOCTA stated that the State Government has, so far, failed to give a response to the genuine demands of FEGOCTA since December 4.
Notably, an ultimatum was served Chief Minister N Biren, Education Minister, Chief Secretary, Commissioner Higher Education on September 9 to implement the 7th UGC Pay for teachers of Government Colleges.
Condemning that the order issued by the State Government for 7th pay implementation excludes Government college teachers, it stated that 7th UGC Pay has already been implemented in other States including Assam.
The Government should not force the college teachers to go for agitations considering the interest of students and higher education, it asserted.
