IMPHAL, Sep 14 : Ambeshori won a gold as Manipur team bagged the second place with a total 8 medals (1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze) at the 3rd Junior Women National Boxing championship which was held from September 8 to 13 at Rohtak under the auspices of Boxing Federation of India.
Haryana emerged team champions with a haul of 7 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals while Maharashtra finished second runners up with a collection of 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals .
Ambeshori earned the lone gold medal for the State in the 60 kg category while Pinky (46 kg), who was named the most promising boxer at the championship, bagged a silver medal. The other two boxers who won silver medals for the State are Thengminla (48 kg) and Bijeta (52 kg). Rose Mary (50 kg), Ethoibi (54 kg), Kunjarani (60 kg) and Kimnungnem (66 kg) were able to win bronze medals for Manipur in this event.
