The fusion music production of the Rhythms of Manipur based on the Manipuri traditional drum Langden “Dancing Drummers” produced by the Doordarshan Kendra Imphal has been selected for the prestigious Doordarshan National Award.
The award presentation ceremony will be held on September 16 at New Delhi. Laishram Milanjit Singh is the music composer of the Dancing Drummers, said a statement of Rajkumar Sanatomba Singh, secretary, Rhythms of Manipur today.
Besides Dancing Drummers, Tele play "IAS Linthoi", Leichal Manipuri modern song, Engallei tele play and Dashavatar Manipuri classical dance produced by DDK Imphal with Thoudam Brajabidhu as producer have also been selected for the Award.
It may be noted that the fusion music Dancing Drummers, one of the finest production of the Rhythms of Manipur, was earlier performed at the prestigious Delhi International Art Festival besides staging at Laos and Port Spain in the year 2017 during the international tours sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR), said Rhythms of Manipur.
The Journey, another fusion music production of the Rhythms of Manipur, had won the prestigious Doordarshan National Award in the year 2010.
Thoudam Brajabidhu has won a number of National awards since 2002 in Doordarshan competitions and National Theatre competitions.
