U-17 Boys Subroto Cup: Manipur's quarter final hope shrinks post 1-1 draw with Army Boys

IMPHAL, Sep 11 : Manipur U-17 boys' hope of entering the quarter final of the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament being held in New Delhi gets slimmer after the team played out a 1-1 draw with Army Boys in a Pool A fixture today. Both Army Boys and Manipur shared similar 7 points each from 3 matches but the former had upperhand on better goal count.
It was indeed a keenly contested game both sides competed for pole position in league table but a series of interception on both ends prompted a low scoring result. The first half ended without any goals being scored on both ends but Army boys surged ahead in the 50th minute with a slim 1-0 lead before N Ajitkumar of Manipur dispatched home a penalty at the hour mark to make the scoreline read 1-1. The scoreline remained undisturbed despite the two sides fought for the lead for the remainder of the game forcing the two teams to share the spoils..
Manipur will meet Sainik School Imphal representing Sainik School Societies in their last pool A league match tomorrow where they will be looking for a huge win to make it to the quarter finals.
