IMPHAL, Sep 1: The Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK) Manipur, has urged all the authorities concerned to limit the working hours of the employees working at private firms like private hospitals, schools, colleges, contract employees, workshops, shops etc, to 7 hours a day.
A statement issued by the secretary general of IPAK today mentioned that this duration is even one hour longer than that of the Government employees, who on the other hand, do not work as much but still get higher pay than the private employees who have to toil harder for their livelihood.
On the other hand, IPAK urged those concerned to limit the working hours of those employed in shops to 5 pm during summer and 4 pm during winter seasons and warned that if it gets any information of employers abusing their powers to overwork the employees, IPAK will take up necessary action.
It then urged the employees to file their complaints at IPAK without any apprehension and added that it is the need of the hour to recognise and support the private sector employees who are working hard to earn their livelihood in an honest and sincere way. IPAK then lauded the indigenous youth and people for being non judgemental and taking up jobs without any stigma and appealed to all the employers to favour the indigenous people instead of tasking the non-indigenous people as a way to help one another and improve the condition of the State both economically and socially.
IPAK also appealed to the State Government to initiate various welfare schemes for the welfare and benefits of the indigenous workers.
