CG meets CSOs

IMPHAL, Aug 5: The State Government’s Consultative Group on Naga Peace Talk held a meeting  with a 27-member joint delegation of key civil society organisations namely; AMUCO, UCM, CCSK, HERICOUN and LIPUL.
The meeting which started at 5.30 pm lasted for almost one hour and a half  and it was chaired by Chief Minister N Biren.
The meeting discussed the present status of the Naga peace talk and issues arising out of it.
Consultative Group member Lt Gen (retd) Himalaya gave a brief account of the progress achieved by the group so far.
The CSO representatives asked the Chief Minister and the Consultative Group member if the Government has any new information about the peace talk and what kind of step would the Government of India take up to seal a solution to the peace talk.
They made it clear that there would be no objection from the people of Manipur when a solution is worked out to the peace talk if it does not harm the integrity of the State. The CSOs expressed keen desire for the Consultative Group to keep a close tab on any step taken by the Government of India regarding the Naga Peace Talk. The Chief Minister reportedly told the delegates that the State Government is under no pressure from the Central Government at the moment regarding the peace talk.
The meeting was called to discuss the issue with CSOs in advance so that the State remains prepared, the Chief Minister reportedly stated.
