HCBAM condemns

IMPHAL, Aug 5: The High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HCBAM) held an emergency extended meeting at 1.30 pm of August 1 and deliberated on the 14 hours State-wide bandh called by the All Manipur Excavator, Local Truck, Tipper Owners and Workers Association (AMELTTOWA) on August 1. According to a press release issued by HCBAM Joint Secretary (Administration) L Somorendro Roy, the bandh was called against the ban on quarrying activities arising out of an order passed by the High Court of Manipur in connection with a PIL filed at the Court.
The meeting also deliberated on the critical and negative views and propaganda circulated in local media and social media regarding the orders passed by the High Court in connection with the particular PIL.
The meeting unanimously resolved to condemn the negative criticisms and propaganda which appeared recently in local media, both electronic and print and social media regarding the directions of the High Court.
It also pointed out that the matter is subjudice before the High Court of Manipur and added that as such, it is not proper to express views and opinions on the matter.
