IMPHAL, Aug 27: Special Court, NIA, Manipur, has declared self styled chairman of UKLF, Lhonkoson Haokip, as a proclaimed absconder in connection with the missing arms case of 2nd Manipur Rifle Arms Kote, apart from fixing September 19 for the charge hearing.
The order was announced today after the hearing of two Court witnesses.
Two accused of the case, Thokchom James and Nellikattil Podiyan Damodaran, were produced before the Court from judicial custody of Sajiwa Jail but co-accused Laishram Anilkumar was not produced.
On the other hand, all the accused persons who are presently out on bail appeared before the Court, except Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip who filed a dispense application before the Court.
Two of the accused, Paonam Shantikumar and self styled Chief of KRA David Hangsing, filed fresh vakalatnama before the Court
During the hearing, the Court heard the submission of two Court witnesses, Inspector of NIA and Inspector of Molcham PS and accordingly declared Lhonkoson Haokip alias Soson alias SS Haokip (47) of Khangbarol village, Tengnoupal, self styled chairman of United Kuki Liberation front as a proclaimed absconder.
The Court also fixed September 19 for the charge hearing against the accused persons.
It may be mentioned that supplementary charge sheets were submitted before the Special Court NIA Manipur on January 28 this year, against MLA Yamthong Haokip, KRA Chief David Hangsing, Thokchom Diamond and Lunkhonson Haokip.
Earlier, charges were farmed by the same Court on October 1 last year against 8 accused (Laishram Anilkumar, Thokchom James, Paonam Shatikumar, Haobam Brojendro, Ngamboi Haokip, Nellikattil Podiyan Damodaran, Mathurabashi Hiranjoy, and Laishram Damodor Singh) against whom the main charge sheet of the case was submitted before the Court on September 25 last year.
It may also be mentioned that KRA Chief David Hangsing and Yamthong Haokip were released on bail a few months back.
