IMPHAL, Aug 25: The Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact signed between Kuki militant groups on one side and the Central and State Government on the other has been extended for six months. A review meeting of SoO pact was held yesterday with Chief Minister N Biren in the chair. The review meeting was attended by AB Mathur, Central Government’s interlocutor for the peace talk with SoO groups, Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary (North East in-charge) Satyendra Garg, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, top officials of police, army and paramilitary forces. During the meeting, the Chief Minister made it clear that all SoO groups must abide by cease fire ground rules. After the meeting, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu presided another meeting of the Joint Monitoring Group (JMG) where the SoO pact was extended from August 24 this year till February 29 next year, informed a source It is said that leaders of both KNO and UPF attended the JMG meeting.
