IMPHAL, Aug 22: The inaugural function of the 2nd HUNIC Conference 2019, organised by Humanities and Social Sciences (Surindra Rajbhat University, Surin Province, Muang district, Thailand), was held at the conference hall of Surinder Rajbhat University at 9 am today. The event was graced by titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba, Chancellor of SR University, Deputy Governor of Surin, eminent scholars from Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand etc. During the event, Leishemba Sanajaoba was handed over a certificate off honour by the Chancellor and he in turn presented a Lengyan to the Chancellor and all the other distinguished guests of the function. Speaking at the event, Leishemba Sanajaoba said that he was honoured to be in the conference and explained that Thailand and Manipur have many similarities and added that like Thailand, Manipur was once a sovereign kingdom before it was merged to India. Stating that Thailand and Manipur had close relations in the past, he hoped that with the coming of the Act East police, such a condition will once again resume between the two regions.
