1st foundation day celebrated

IMPHAL, Aug 13 : Senior Citizens' Society Khundrakpam celebrated its first foundation day at Sambei community hall today.
Senior Citizens' Society convenor Dr Ksh Kala, while speaking on the occasion said that the society was set up to ensure a place for the elder people so that they can spend the rest of their days at the society peacefully.
Maintaining that the society has been registered, he urged all to initiate steps to make the place an old age home with the help of experts and the State Government.
Setting up old age home is rather necessary, he said and added that president of the society has donated the land to establish an old age home.
As Khundrakpam constituency is lagging behind in terms of development, members of the society along with intellectuals and experts are striving to develop the Kendra by extending support and helping each other.
Informing that August 21 is World Senior Citizen Day, Dr Kala appealed all members to take part in the function which will be organised at RAM Pangei.
He added a that a free health camp will also be organised on the day.
MCPCR former chairperson as well as former Social Welfare Director S Saratkumar Sharma will grace the World Senior Citizen Day function as the chief guest while Senior Citizens' Society president Kh Rajendra will attend as the president, society advisors Konsam Tomba and Irungbam Mani as guests of honour.
