CM condoles

IMPHAL, Jul 2: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has condoled the demise of senior journalist Joseph Joute, co-editor of Hmasawna Thar, a daily newspaper in Hmar dialect, on June 28 following a brief illness.
The Chief Minister conveyed that Joseph Joute was an acknowledged journalist with an illustrious career and he served as the editor of a number of weekly and daily newspapers.
He was also the correspondent of the North East Sun, PTI and different Imphal based newspapers, the CM added.
Stating that on his demise, the State has lost a sincere journalist, the CM stated that Joseph Joute was an immense inspiration for many budding journalists and youth and conveyed deepest condolence to the bereaved family of the deceased.
On the other hand, All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) extended financial aid to the family of late Joseph Joute today.
A press release issued by the publicity secretary of AMWJU today mentioned that AMWJU vice president S Bokuljaoba, general secretary Khwairakpam Naoba, former AMWJU presidents N Tombiraj, Brozendro Ningomba, K Sarojkumar Sharma and Manipur Hill Journalists' Union vice president Lalmalsawm Sellate handed over the financial aid to the bereaved family of the late senior journalist.
AMWJU and MHJU members also observed a two minute silence in honour of the departed soul.
Editors of dailies based in Churachandpur, AMWJU standing committee members and MHJU members were also present as well.
