Farmers training programme begins

THOUBAL, Jul 29 : A 3 day farmer training programme jointly organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, KVK Thoubal and Manipur Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium, Imphal on the theme "Integrated farming system, processing and marketing thereof" began today at the training hall of KVK, Thoubal.
The inaugural function  was attended by Commissioner, Agriculture Department, M Joy Singh; Joint Director, ICAR, NEHR, Lamphelpat, Dr L Meguachandra Singh;  Project Coordinator, Manipur Small Farmers' Agri-Business Consortium, MS Khaidem and Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Thoubal, Dr S Zeshmarani Devi as the presidium members.
On the opening day, KVK Thoubal, SMS Agronomy N Tomba, SMS Fishery, Sribidya Waikhom, Programme Assistant, S Prabin and SMS, home Science, RK Lembisan spoke on the topics "Integrated farming system for sustainable agriculture", "Fishery based integrated farming system under Manipur condition for increasing incidence of farmers", "Innovative technologies for integrated farming system under Manipur condition" and "Processing and marketing of locally available fruits and vegetables" as the resource persons.
The resource persons also responded to different queries raised by the farmers.
The 2nd day of the training programme will be participated by Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Thoubal, Dr S Zeshmarani Devi; Associate Professor CAU, Dr Ng Joykumar, SMS Engineering, KVK, Chandel K Sonamani; Agri Extension, KVK Thoubal, Dr A Tarajit and SMS-PBG S Surmangol as the resource persons.
The resource persons for the 3rd will be KVK, Thoubal, Farm Manager, E Jiten, KVK, Imphal West, SMS-PBG S Gunamani, Agriculture Department, Assistant Engineer, I Akendra and NIAM Jaipur Deputy Director of Skill Development and Administration, Dr SR Singh.
A Farm Innovator Meet will also be held during the training programme which is organised under the supervision of National Institute of Agriculture Marketing, NIAM Jaipur.
