AMSU fetes meritorious students

IMPHAL, Jul 28 : All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Wangkhei Branch has felicitated meritorious students of Wangkhei, Hapta, Ayangpalli, Bamon Leikai, Porompat, Palace Compound, Nongmeibung, Soibam Leikai and Checkon, who have cleared the recent class X and XII examinations conducted by BOSEM, COHSEM and CBSE, with gifts and awards, during a solemn function held at NSK Multipurpose Community Hall, Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, today.
Altogether 77 students were feted during the function.
Speaking as the president of the event, secretary general of AMSU HQs, Bipinchandra Ahanthem lauded the volunteers of AMSU, Wangkhei branch for  acknowledging the importance of education to bring about a positive changes in the society and encouraging  the meritorious students with gifts and awards.
Stating that Babysana's death inside the hostel of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School on July 18 was quite suspicious, he appealed all to contribute their share to deliver justice to the deceased student.
Such unpleasant incident continue to happen in the State as many hostels and boardings are operated without following any protocol, the gen secy said, appealing the State Government and concerned authorities to formulate a policy for running hostel and boarding at the earliest.
Thangjam Arunkumar, social worker, proprietor Arun Enterprises; RK Itocha Singh, ex president, AMSU, Associate Prof in Pol Science, Imphal College; Mutum Prabin Kumar Singh, founder, Royal Academy of Science, Wangkhei and Laishram Netraswari Devi, former Head Mistress, Wangkhei High School also attended the programme as the presidium members.
It may also be mentioned that the parents and guardians of students staying at the boarding of the said school took away the belonging of their wards from the boarding yesterday.
