Jiribam, Jul 24: Proposed Manipur's Western Gate at Jiribam will be built within three months, said N Sadananda Singh, Executive Engineer (EE) PWD, Jiribam today.
Speaking to media persons, N Sadananda said that site search for the gate was wrapped up today and all efforts will be taken up to finish the construction of the gate within three months.
The site search was started yesterday, he said informing that the gate will be built at Babupara 150 metres towards Jiribam from the old foundation stone laid for the gate during former Chief Minister Nipamacha's time.
It may be noted that the foundation stone at the old site was laid on December 20, 1999 by the then Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha.
The site search was done with representatives of various CSOs in Jiribam and local leaders, said Sadananda.
Meanwhile, W Dinesh Meetei, general secretary, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) lauded the Jiribam PWD staff for taking keen interest in the project.
