IMPHAL, Jul 22: The All Manipur Government Aided School Employees Coordi-nation Committee has threatened to launch intense agitation if the State Government fails to fulfil its demand for implementation of 6th Pay for the employees and to fill up vacant posts by July 25.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the assistant State coordinator of the committee, Th Bhugeswor said that ever since 1980, employees of the Government aided schools have been working tirelessly for the welfare of the students and their guardians.
However, the State Government which claims to be giving extra emphasis on the education sector, has completely failed to look after the interest of the employees belonging to the 585 Government aided schools present in the State, he alleged.
Even though the Government has implemented revised pay (6th/7th Pay) for the State Government employees, the employees of the Govt aided schools have to be content with a pay scale which is obsolete in today's age. Moreover, many vacant posts are yet to be filled up.
He continued that the committee has been appealing to the authorities concerned to implement the revised pay scale as well as fill the vacant posts so as to ensure proper education atmosphere but to no avail.
Stating that the committee had submitted an ultimatum to the Government on July 15, he warned that if the authorities fail to heed to the demands of the committee by July 25, it is prepared to launch intense forms of agitation.
