Honorarium denied

IMPHAL, Jul 21 : Six months worth of salary for contractors engaged in the Jiribam-Imphal National Railway Project  have not been distributed, said a source.
It stated that whenever the contractors concerned approached the higher authorities of NF Railway to release their pending salaries, the authority always reiterated non availability of fund and expressed their helplessness.
The authorities concerned even advised the contractors concerned to stop the work and maintained that the contractors will be intimated only when the fund for the project is available, added the source.
It alleged that the authority concerned does not consider the necessity to take the matter to the Railway Ministry for intervention as well as placement of required fund while the State Government has remained silent on the slow progress of works which has caused delay in completion of the project.
The present situation, if it continues, will hinder and delay the project for another four to five years, missing the revised target of December this year, the source maintained.
It appealed the State Government to intervene on the matter and take the matter to the Railway Minister so that the project is completed within the stipulated time.
