IMPHAL, May 6: Manipuri Youths' Front of Assam (MYFA) has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh urging him to take up certain actions in the larger interest of the Manipuris who are settled in Assam. A press release issued by the president of MYFA, Seram Herajit Singh, mentioned that the memo appealed to CM N Biren Singh to urge the Chief Minister of Assam for ensuring that the names of all Manipuris (Meitei) and Manipuri Muslims who have been settled in Assam for decades, are not left out from the list of the ongoing National Register of Citizens (NRC) which is going to be published on July 31. It also demanded N Biren to urge the CM of Assam to recognise the Manipuris settled in Assam as indigenous people when Clause 6 of Assam Accord gets amended as per NRC, Assam. The memo continued that preservation and promotion are critical in building unity and fraternity among the Manipuris scattered in different parts of the North East region which makes it all the more necessary for Assam and Tripura campus of Manipur University of Culture to be opened. Further demanding construction of Manipuri Bhavans at lmphal and SiIchar, the memo appealed to the CM to look into the matter and initiate necessary actions at the earliest.
