13th Mayek Chatpa Numit observed By Our Staff Reporter IMPHAL, May 18: MEELAL has condemned the non representation of the Meetei Mayek (script) in the Indian currency till now. "Years after inclusion of Meetei Mayek in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, the script has not yet depicted in the Indian Rupee till now. Speaking at the event, MEELAL president in-charge Yanglem Biren Meetei said that despite the recognition, the Meetei Mayek is yet to appear on the Indian currency. The State Government should pressure the Centre to include the indigenous script in the currency and preserve its identity, he said.
