CPI submits
IMPHAL, Dec 3: CPI Manipur State Council has submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Amit Shah strongly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
The memo labelled the Bill as anti-secular and anti-Constitutional and explained that the territorial boundary of Manipur is porous and a large chunk of foreigners have already infiltrated the State.
The need of the hour is to deport and expel such foreigners, it reasoned.
The indigenous people of the State have already been threatened and the proposed Bill will pose a great challenge to the very existence of the indigenous people, it claimed. The memo further reasoned that any sort of special provision incorporated in the said Bill for the State will have no effect in protecting and safeguarding the indigenous people of Manipur. As such, CPI MSC is strongly against the CAB, it added.
