IMPHAL, Nov 4: The 16th death anniversary of Lung-nila Elizabeth was observed at Devala Multipurpose auditorium, Sangai Bazaar complex, Hiyangthang Takhellambam Konjin today.
Paying floral tributes to the photo of the deceased and distribution of simple gifts to employees and labourers were the main features of the event which was organised by the Sangai Bazaar Management.
Speaking at the event, Sangai Bazaar chairman Kh Inaoba said that ever since the 3rd anniversary, his family has been  observing the death anniversary of Lungnila Elizabeth till today.
He said that from a few years back, gifts and presents were distributed to old age homes, orphan homes, meritorious or deserving individuals, great parents etc, as a part of the observation.
But this year, presents and gifts were distributed to labourers and employees, he said, adding that employees and labourers were selected as promoting healthy work culture will lead to rapid development of the State.
Praying that the State may never see again any incident similar to the unfortunate case of Lungnila Elizabeth, Inaoba said that at that time, the hills and the valley were united as one in demanding justice for the deceased.
Sangai Bazaar chief advisor Kh Gambhir, All Manipur Petroleum Tanker Drivers Welfare Association president Y Bhupenchandra Ghosh and staff of Sangai Bazaar wee also present at the event.
It may be mentioned that then 8 year old Lungnila Elizabeth, a class III student of Little Flower School, was kidnapped by some unknown individuals from in front of her school on November 4, 2003.
Her lifeless body was later found at Sadokpam on November 12.
