IMPHAL, Nov 4: Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) locked down the Principal's office and the administrative block of LMS Law College today.
Speaking to media persons, MSF vice president Sajad Buyamayum said that MSF had urged all the colleges in the State to issue a notification regarding the college election on October 25. But LMS Law College issued the said notice on November 2 (at 2 pm) and mentioned the last date as 4 pm of the same day.
Accusing the Principal of the college trying to manipulate the college election with some other people with vested interest, Sajad said that MSF decided to close the administration block and the Principal's office/room so as to prevent any scrutiny or other election related process from being conducted. On the other hand, the president of the college student union, Soyam Thomas Singh appealed to the authorities concerned to look into the matter at the earliest.
Expressing disappointment at the closing of the college administration block and the Principal s office, he appealed to all those concerned not to repeat such acts in the future as it only causes inconvenience to the students of the college.
He further demanded the scrutiny to be held within 3 days and warned that the union will launch intense agitation if its demand is not fulfilled.
