MNPF states stand

IMPHAL, Nov 24: The Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF) has lambasted the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM as a policy of the Government of India to polarise the indigenous peoples of WESEA, particularly Manipur.
Pointing out that hundreds of people have died in the course of the 70 years old Naga revolutionary struggle, the MNPF questioned if there is any meaning in putting an end to the long struggle in exchange for economic package, 6th Schedule and territorial council within the Constitution of India.
A statement issued by MNPF publicity secretary Thomas Numai decried that the Framework Agreement is a betrayal of all the people who had laid down their lives in the course of the liberation struggle as well as all those women and innocent people raped and murdered by Indian military forces.
If the media reports that some ‘Somdal leaders’ of NSCN-IM have reached Yunan province of China and are seeking assistance from the Chinese Government to carry on their armed campaign against India is true, it is another step of ‘Somdal NSCN-IM’ to further use Naga people as their merchandise, it said.
It then appealed to all non-Naga communities of Manipur not to be uncannily worried. Yet, it noted that the valley dwellers particularly Meiteis have enough reasons to be apprehensive.
The Government of India is not satisfied even after allegedly occupying Manipur which has a written history spanning over 2000 years. That is why, New Delhi has been conspiring to exterminate all indigenous people of the land, it alleged.
Now all the people have seen through the Government of India’s divide and rule policy. Having seen the Government of India’s divide and rule policy, it’s time for the hill people and the plain people to unite, defeat the sinister policy and struggle collectively for a prosperous and dignified future, the MNPF called out.
The hill-valley relationship transcends everything. That is why, it remains as strong as ever despite all kinds of violence, highway robbery and blockades unleashed by NSCN-IM during the past 30 years, the outfit asserted.
The MNPF then categorically stated that it does not support but rather oppose the idea of bringing all Naga inhabited areas under one administration.
On account of proselytisation into Hinduism and Christianity, both the plain dwellers and hill people strayed from the right path. Now it is crucial for both the hill people and plain to come back to the right course, it asserted.
MNPF stands firmly for Manipur and it will fight to the last man for the cause of Manipur, it added.
