Bpr/CCpur/Tpl/Jiri, Nov 17: In support of the demand of Co-Ordinating Committee for Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) for the disclosure of the content of the Naga peace agreement with GoI and such agreement cannot compromise the territorial integrity of Manipur, public alert protests were staged at Moirang and Thanga in Bishnupur district during which the protesters formed human chain to vent out their dissent.
Moirang Block Congress Committee, Moirang Block Mahila Congress Committee and Moirang Assembly Youth Congress jointly organized a public alert protest at Moirang Mairembam Leikai Leikoipung against the non-disclosure of Naga peace talks under the aegis of MPCC.
The sit-in protest was attended by Co-ordinator COCOMI Sunil Karam, Jitendra, ex-MLA Moirang AC M Prithviraj Singh, Congress Councillors of Moirang Municipal Council and Congress workers of Moirang AC during which placards and banners which read as "Protest Against Non-Disclosure of Naga Peace Talk", "Administrative Structure of Manipur cannot be compromised", "No State Within the State", "Don't break Manipur", "Down with Autocratic BJP rule", "We Stand for Unity", "Congress Stands for United Manipur", "Why Extra Security Forces?", "Don’t Play Divisive Politics in NE", "We Don’t Want a Broken Home", "We demand immediate Assembly Session" etc, were used.
Similar protests were also staged at Thanga Chinglak Bazar in Thanga AC organized by Thanga Apunba Ngamkhei Kanba Lup and formed human chain on the street raising slogans such as "Hill & Valley are Same", "Long Live Manipur", "No Compromise on territorial boundary of Manipur" etc.
CCPUR: Public alert protest was staged at peace ground in Churachandpur district yesterday in support of COCOMI demand.
In the sit-in protest jointly organized by CUCO, JC Tiddim Manipur, LUDO CCpur, United Handloom Society CCpur saw participation from members of different communities while president CUCO cum Convenor of Joint Committee, SK Mangang; Gen Secy CCpur Meitei Student Union, Huidrom Khamba; Secy Ima Leimarol Apunba Lup CCpur, Manileima; Secy United Handloom Society, Lamchaung Touthang; Advisor Meitei Society, Rajen; president Nupi Samaj CCpur, Ima Landhoni; Secy Organisation CUCO, Ngamjathang Khongsai; Convenor JC Tiddim, W Roma and president AMUCO cum Asst Co-Ordinator COCOMI, Ph Nando Luwang spoke on the occasion.
Tengnoupal: CSOs of Moreh jointly organized a public alert rally for the territorial integrity of Manipur under the aegis of COCOMI at border town Moreh today evening.
The rally commenced from Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung, Moreh ward no 7 and culminated at the same place after passing through various parts of Moreh town after a team of Moreh police put some restriction on the proceeding of the rally for some time.
Jiribam: In support of COCOJMI demand for the disclosure of peace accord between NSCN-IM and GoI, women folks of Samupunbi and and Sorok Atingbi Khunou staged a public alert sit-in at Samupunbi community hall today.
Speaking to the media persons on the sideline of the protest, S Renubala Devi said that the peace accord between NSCN-IM and GoI is a welcome step, however if it affects the territorial integrity of Manipur then another violent agitation is in the offing.
The protesters also demand for a special assembly session to show their stand for the territorial integrity of Manipur.
During the protest, many slogans such as "Disclose the content of peace talk agreement", "Don't break Manipur", "We oppose the divisive policy of Central Govt", "Territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised", "Bring peace not pieces" were used.
