CPI demands
IMPHAL, Nov 1 : Manipur State Council of Communist Party of India has condemned the act of sending in para military forces and militarisation of major parts of the State amidst the public unease concerning the solution to the protracted Naga peace talks.
A press release issued by the assistant secretary, MSC/CPI stated that there are around one lakh State force and army for the total of 28 lakh population in the State while adding that the State is already filled with military forces.
Above this, around 15 companies of para military forces have been deployed at educational institutes following the Naga political dialogue. There are reports about sending in more forces, it said and remarked that this action can be termed as rapid militarisation of the State. Conveying that the public is apprehensive and living in fear and concern about the integrity of the State, MSC/CPI demanded immediate demilitarisation of the State.
