Right to Information Week held

IMPHAL, Oct 8 : The Manipur Information Commission became operational following the implementation of Right to Information Act 2005 which serves as a body to provide information that people seek from the department concerned thereby giving the people to exercise their right.
Deputy Chairman of Manipur State Planning Board S Rajen made this statement at the inaugural function of the five days celebration of 'Right to Information Week' held at the auditorium of Tribal Research Institute Chingmeirong yesterday.
The function was organised by Manipur Information Commission with financial assistance from the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, GoI.
The function was attended by Deputy Chairman of Manipur State Planning Board as well as MLA of Lamsang AC, S Rajen graced the function as the chief guest while Manipur Information Commission State Chief Information Commissioner O Sunil attended as the functional president and Imphal West Zilla Parishad Up-Adhyaksha Ng Biloma and Manipur Information Commission State Information Commissioner S Ibocha as the guest of honour.
As part of the function, a State Level Workshop was also organised in which Advocate Dr Ch Narendra and Dr S Ibocha enlightened the gathering on Right to Information Act.
Meanwhile, chief guest of the function S Rajen said that the Manipur Information Commission was set up in the State and many commendable initiatives have been taken up by the Commission so far.
He appealed to all the people to reap the benefits from the commission in acquiring knowledge and information as the commission was set up to provide the answer that the public seek.
