IMPHAL, Oct 31: Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed her heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, specially Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the happy occasion of Chavang Kut 2019.
In her message, Dr Najma said that Kut is celebrated as a thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.
Apart from its cultural significance, the festival has also become an important tourist attraction, the Governor said and expressed hope that the festival will spread the message of peace, love, communal harmony, friendship and brotherhood among the different communities in the North East, specially in Manipur.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh extended his warm wishes to the people of Manipur, particularly Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the occasion of their biggest festival Chavang Kut.
Stating that compassion, gaiety and gracefulness underscore the spirit of Kut, N Biren prayed that the spirit of festival to help in promoting unity and continued peaceful co-existence among all the communities.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh also greeted the people of Manipur, specially Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren on the occasion.
Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the State, read a message of the Speaker.
Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen, MAHUD Minister Th Shyamkumar, Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee president Moirangthem Okendro Singh, Nungba AC MLA Gaikhangam and Thanlon AC MLA Vungzagin Valte also extended their warm greetings to all the people of Manipur on the occasion.
