IMPHAL, OCT 31: The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) has urged the Director of Education (S) not to pay heed to the pressure from certain quarters to shift DIET, Tamei to elsewhere. According to the LNKR, there are some elements working hard to shift the DIET from Tamei based on one pretext or the other. The LNKR then asserted that the student body will not remain a mute spectator if the DIET centre is shifted.
According to the LNKR, there are many teachers working under the ADC, Tamenglong and many teachers under the ZEO, Tamenglong,” and no one had filed any representation to the Government to shift the training programmes to Tamenglong headquarters”. The Liangmai student body said that, “in strict compliance with the existing order issued by the Director, SCERT, Government of the Manipur (photocopy enclosed as annexure- ‘A’), the first phase of integrated teachers' training NISHTHA was held at DIET, Tamei.
The LNKR stated that Tamei has full- basic amenities. “Having all the required facilities DIET, Tamei has been functioning properly since- 2003 till date”.
The LNKR then said that it came to know that an organisation had filed a complaint to the “concerned authority” to shift the training programme from DIET, Tamei to Tamenglong headquarters. “This can never be allowed by all concerned which is solely to make a morass of education, particularly teachers' trainings”, it also asserted.
The student body also said that DIET, Tamei has its scope to launch the remaining training programmes, i.e. the next phase of the training in the interest of all the trainees in the district. “In the light of the facts as stated above, we would like to file this complaint in public interest and to request your good office to look into the matter to cancel the petition filed by some organisation immediately”, it added.
